Realmente, no me parecia ético
“The 350 trial bike was my first project at the new company JJ Cobas. Meanwhile, I was
occasionally helping Cardús with the Kobas MR1 in his unstoppable race towards the European title...”
“Despite everything, my support was purely educational. I was training Carlos in the optimal
setting of the suspensions. In fact, I didn’t think it ethical to be involved in the preparation of a
motorcycle that was made for another customer...”
The project wasn’t a piece of cake. The JJ Cobas trial bike underwent several stages of
development. RC 1, RC 2, RC 3, or so to speak: range 10, range 20, and range 30.
‘RC 1, which we would call RC 10 for internal purposes, was only a blueprint concept. It allowed us to carry out the first tests on paper, which brought us to build the RC 11 and, later on, the RC2. We made adjustments to fit a larger air filter and, in the end, this would also require changing the shape of the rear sub-chassis and the frame beam.’
The RC 2 was the first bike that had a Montesa engine. The first units with Bultaco engine were RC 25 and RC 26, and the last one was the RC 35. The motorcycle that was sold –always with a Montesa engine– had, to be accurate, the RC 31 specs.
